About
Coloratura soprano Lisa Mostin is one of Belgium’s rising talents who has a keen interest in Mozart, Strauss, the virtuosic French and Belcanto repertoire. She has been invited by world class opera houses in some of the most demanding roles of the opera repertoire.
She sang the Queen of the Night at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Dutch National Opera and has been invited again at the Deutsche Oper Berlin to cover the role of Valentine in Les Huguenots with Juan Diego Florez, Patrizia Ciofi, David Alden and Michele Mariotti, as Yvette in La Rondine in the direction of Rolando Villazon, conducted by Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, and sang in their new production of Death in Venice by Graham Vick and Donald Runnicles.
She made her house and role debut as Olympia at the Staatsoper Stuttgart and was invited by Le Concert Spirituel led by Hervé Niquet to sing the French version of the The Queen of the Night at the Opéra Grand Avignon and the Opéra Royal de Versailles. The label of the Château Versailles published a CD box and DVD of this beautiful production by Julien Lubek and Cécile Roussat.
Zerbinetta and Konstanze turned out to be further roles that would define her carreer, from Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, til Oper Bonn, Theater Bremen, Theater Magdeburg, etc.
Lisa sang during the Leonard Bernstein centennial, the role of Dede in A QUIET PLACE at Opera Zuid, Maastricht, directed by Orpha Phelan, it won best production of 2018 in The Netherlands. She’s been re-invited by the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Janaček’s THE CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN and sang Beethoven’s 9TH SYMPHONY in Magdeburg.
Last season, Lisa was nominated for the FAUST, the renowned German theatre prize for her debut as La Compagna in Luigi Nono's 'Intolleranza' conducted by Johannes Harneit, Stefan Schreiber and directed by Dietrich Hilsdorf at the Theatre Wuppertal. She'll be reprising the role this season at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen.
She was invited by the Oscar winning actress Vanessa Redgrave to sing at her evening Vanessa Redgrave and Friends, “Parlami d’amore” at the Ulysses Theater Festival in Croatia.
At the Opera Houses of Rostock and Görlitz she built up an impressive repertoire like Marie / LA FILLE DU REGIMENT, Königin der Nacht / DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Susanna / DIE HOCHZEIT DES FIGARO, Musetta / LA BOHEME, Adele / DIE FLEDERMAUS, Oscar / EIN MASKENBALL, Eurydike / ORPHEUS IN DER UNTERWELT as well as the soprano part in CARMINA BURANA and in THE FAIRY QUEEN. She sang during the world premieres the roles of Aristide in Moritz Eggerts Oper LINKERHAND and of Franziska in Georg Kreislers DAS AQUARIUM ODER DIE STIMME DER VERNUNFT.
At the Brussels Operetta Society she developed a deep love for the operetta repertoire.
Lisa Mostin studied at the conservatory of Maastricht with Axel Everaert and in Florence with Margherita Rinaldi. During private lessons and masterclasses she studied with; Barbara Bonney, Ileana Cotrubas, Cecilia Gasdia, Sylvia Geszty, Bonaldo Giaiotti, Sumi Jo, Tom Krause, June Anderson and Valerie Sorel. Lisa Mostin is a Finalist of the International Clermont-Ferrand Singing Competition and the Maastricht Rotary Award.
Lisa appears as an opera singer in the movie ‘The Barefoot Emperor’. The movie made its debut at the Toronto International Film festival and includes actors Geraldine Chaplin, Udo Kier and Peter van den Begin, a movie by Jessica Woodworth and Peter Brosens.
During the pandemic, Lisa studied script writing and storytelling and just finished writing her first opera movie script.
