About

 Faust nominated Coloratura soprano Lisa Mostin is one of Belgium’s rising talents who has a keen interest in Mozart, Strauss, the virtuosic French and Belcanto repertoire. She has been invited by world class opera houses in some of the most demanding roles of the opera repertoire. 
 

 Belgian soprano, Lisa Mostin’s specialisation in the coloratura repertoire, opened the doors to an international career. As The Queen of The Night in Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’, she’s been invited to the Deutsche Oper Berlin, The Dutch National Opera Amsterdam, Opéra Royal du Château de Versailles, Opéra Grand Avignon, as Olympia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at The Staatsoper Stuttgart and as Zerbinetta at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen.

 

Other signature roles are Konstanze in ‘Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Marie in ‘La Fille du Régiment’, Gilda in ‘Rigoletto’, Violetta in ‘La Traviata’ and Lucia in ‘Lucia di Lammermoor. She’s also proven herself to be a reliable performer in the contemporary opera repertoire with roles like Kristine in Boesmans’ ‘Julie' in Nancy and Dijon, Franziska in Georg Kreisler’s ‘Das Aquarium’ and La Compagna in Luigi Nono’s ‘Inolleranza’.

With Le Concert Spirituel, led by Hervé Niquet, she was invited to sing the French version of The Queen of the Night at the Opéra Grand Avignon and the Opéra Royal de Versailles. The label of the Château Versailles published a CD box and DVD of this beautiful production by Julien Lubek and Cécile Roussat.

Lisa had the pleasure to work with conductors like Adam Fischer, Benjamin Bayle, Koen Kessels, Johannes Harneit, Stefan Klingele, Michele Mariotti, Hervé Niquet, Alejo Pérez, Marc Piollet, Donald Runnicles, Roberto Rizzi-Brignoli as well as the esteemed directors; David Alden, Guy Joosten, Christoph Marthaler, Benedikt von Peter, Orpha Phelan, Graham Vick en Rolando Villazón.

 

Lisa sang during the Leonard Bernstein centennial, the role of Dede in A QUIET PLACE at Opera Zuid, Maastricht, directed by Orpha Phelan, it won best production of 2018 in The Netherlands.

Last season, Lisa was nominated for the FAUST, the renowned German theatre prize for her debut as La Compagna in Luigi Nono's 'Intolleranza' conducted by Johannes Harneit, Stefan Schreiber and directed by Dietrich Hilsdorf at the Theatre Wuppertal. She reprised the role this season at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen.

She was invited by the Oscar winning actress Vanessa Redgrave to sing at her evening Vanessa Redgrave and Friends, “Parlami d’amore” at the Ulysses Theater Festival in Croatia.

 

At the Brussels Operetta Society she developed a deep love for the operetta repertoire. 

Lisa Mostin is a Finalist of the International Clermont-Ferrand Singing Competition and the Maastricht Rotary Award.

 

In the movie ‘The Barefoot Emperor’, Lisa appears as an opera singer. Directed by Jessica Woodworth and Peter Brosens, the movie made  its debut at the Toronto International Film festival and  includes actors Geraldine Chaplin, Udo Kier and Peter van den Begin. 

 

During the pandemic, Lisa studied script writing and storytelling with a grant given by the Flemish government and finished writing her first opera movie script. Rumor has it, she started writing her second.
