Biography

 


Since the summer of 2009, Lisa Mostin (1983, Belgium) is a member of the ensemble of the Volkstheater Rostock and will debut this year as The Queen of the Night in Mozart's Magic Flute. Other roles this season will include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Valencienne in Die Lustige Witwe and the Deutsches Requiem from Brahms directed by Niklas Willén.

Last year she sang in Offenbach’s Orpheus in der Unterwelt as Eurydike, her first Susanna and created the role of Franziska in the world premiere in Georg Kreisler’s Das Aquarium oder die Stimme der Vernunft. Another highlight was her rendition of the first soprano in Mozart’s c minor mass.



Lisa started her professional singing career in 2008 in the ensemble of the Theater Görlitz in Germany, and sang the roles of Musetta in La Boheme, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera, and created the role of Aristide in the World Premiere of Linkerhand by Moritz Eggert.


Besides opera, Lisa is very active in the belgian Operetta scene and has been a soloist many times with the Brussels Operetta Theater, singing roles by Léhar and Stolz.



She had the pleasure to work with distinguished conductors like Stefan Diederich, Jeremy Hulin, Koen Kessels, Manfred Lehner, Peter Leonard, Nicholas Milton and Niklas Willén.



When Lisa was 17 years old, she was accepted into the Maastricht Conservatory of Music where she studied voice under Professor Axel Everaert, eventually receiving her Masters of Music Degree.


Lisa Mostin was a finalist in the Rotary Music Award Competition in Maastricht and, following her Conservatory training, studied in Italy for 2 years on a Fellowship. She was privileged to study privately with Soprano Margherita Rinaldi and also received a degree in Italian (cum laude) from the University of Florence.


She has attended various Master classes from singers such as Raina Kabaivanska, Sarah Walker and Martina Arroyo and did further studies under Tom Krause, Frau Kammersängerin Sylvia Geszty and Nelly Miricioiù. Since completing her studies, Ms. Mostin has had the honor of working extensively with Barbara Bonney in Salzburg and Ileana Cotrubas in Vienna.

 


Since the beginning of her studies, Lisa has performed onstage: as a soloist with Muziektheater Transparant in performances of “Drift”, “De Storm”, “Zone Orfeo”  and “Dan ben ik straks ook zo’n Diva”, which she sang in several Opera houses in Belgium and the Netherlands. She sang the role of Papagena in “Die Zauberflöte für Kinder” in the Alden Biesen Summer Opera.

 

Lisa Mostin, began her musical career in a Youth Orchestra and played the violin for 9 years. In childhood, she also sang in “Die Ghespeelkens”, a Girls’ Choir that won international prizes and that was often invited to perform in various European countries.
